Hello,
Factory alarm works fine if you open the engine lid or the bonnet. However it does not sound if you open the doors.
Not sure if it works on voltage drop or the door switches. I may try putting a brighter bulb in the interior light, but it may be a loose wire.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Very late 1600i.

Hi Neil,
That problem will be caused by corroded door switches. Replacing them with brand new ones will cure that problem.
Cheers,
Phil

Phil
That makes sense as the interior light did not work from either door when I bought it. I sanded the switches and the interior light began working.
Not bad for a car with only less than 4000Km's!!
Thanks, I shall give it a try.

While I am on the subject. Is there anyway to fit remote central locking to the alarm and bypass the tubular key to set it?
That would be a good set up.
