Lambda probe.

Hello; Could any one tell me if it is possible to extend the length of the cable going to the lambda probe.I am wanting to change the exhaust system and need to move the probe and not sure if the cable will be long enough.Has anyone done this ?

Hiya gramey lad,

It is possible to extend the length of the lambda probe's cable, but you will have to crimp them together. Soldering them may not work due to the cable its self.

I have replaced a lambda probe on my mexican beetle, but I just took off the Golf VR6 connector and crimped that onto my mexican beetle's lambda probe connector.

Hello phill. Do you mean that the golf vr6 probe is the same as the mexican beetle !and if so does it have a longer cable? .Do you also of another way that i could translate this site as there is so much i would like to read but unfortunatley dont understand german. Confused

Yep the VR6 lambda probe is the same as the mexican beetle (see my parts cross reference list in the general section for futher details). Quite a few different Bosch lambda probes are in fact exactly the same lambda probe with different Bosch part numbers.

The forum could be translated into english by using Babelfish to translate a website (URL). However the translation that it provides doesn't always make sense and some words are not translated.

I will try to translate more of the 1600i website's docs into english when I have time.
