wipers kaput.

What goes wrong with the wipers ? I seem to have lost my intermittent wipe and they wont park themselves.Is this a fault with the relay or do the switches on the column go wrong "and if so are there any alternatives to genuine parts Any ideas much appreciated.

That's not the relay, nor the switches, it's the wiper motor itself.

Inside the wiper motor are copper contacts so that it can park the wiper in the correct position. If these contacts are damaged, it stops in any position.

Open the plate of the motor, clean the contacts from old grease... usually it's the old grease that causes this symptom.
