				| Hi Manfred,
Would love to chip my ''E' series ECU - any idea when this will be possible?

 Regards

				| Hello Jitin, at the moment i have no idea when this chip will be ready. I still own a "E" series ECU and also a 4-pin lambda probe and so on. But there are also a lot of differences within the wiring of sedans which have the "E" to sedans which have the "B". Even if i build a chip i would have no possibility to test it at this time.
I think it will get a beetle project (min. 3 month, up to 3 years) as many other things on my long list.
Maybe if the test and implementation of the multi spark ignition is finished, you could do something for your "E" sedan to drive a little bit better.
 regards
 Manfred

				| Tell me more about the multi spark ignition, I am currently talking to a tuning company in Truxton Hampshire that claim to have remapped a 1600i's before, I am still waiting on a copy of the dyno results before I take things further. I am running a rare D type ECU, which is similar to the E type?

				| Hello Nigel, yes, the D and E type ecu's are nearly the same. You can change the Chip from a E to a D and will get a E ecu.
At the moment i'm still testing the multi spark ignition. You can realy feel the difference. Especialy when you shift from one gear to the next.
But these ignitons need a different signal level from the ecu. At the moment its a very simple adaption, it works ok in my old convertible. But a friend of mine also pluged this ignition into his UE and the rpm-meter (?) did not work any more. So i had to build a little more complicated converter for the ecu igniton timing signal.
I hope you understand what i meen. It's so late and i'm so tired.
 regards
 Manfred

				| Hi Manfred Hope you feel recovered after a good nights sleep? Are you trialling an MSD ingnition system or some another make, I would be interested in how you connected it up and what is involved in building the converter unit.

If anybody else has tunned an ACD in the UK I would be interested to here from them.Out of interest VW trends magazine ran an artical many years ago about a mod that was carried out by Kingfisher customs to an ACD motor, After talking to them recently at a show I found out that the car was just tweeked on a rolling road and put out around 55 BHP but was much smoother to drive with no flat spots. This sound ok but I am sure we can get more BHP and torque out of these engines whithout major mods. Your thoughts are welcomed.

 Regards Nigel

				| Hi Nigel,
I think Kingfisher Kustoms used to offer the Mexi with a rechip that was carried out by AmD, who still offer the upgrade according to their website:
 http://amdtechnik.com/products.variant.cfm?variantid=78
I have a magazine somewhere with a before and after dyno plot - I believe it showed a 15% power and torque gain.

				| I contacted AmD Technik but got an email back explaining that they don't offer the chip upgrade anymore due to "lack of demand and minimal increases". Understandable - given the £250 price tag.
