Problems with my Beetle 99

Hi Manfred. Im from Mexico and it's a great web site. So, I have a problem with my VW 1600i. It is 1999 year. The problem is that 3 or 4 months ago the band is broke. I didn't realize it right away. After that, I saw a lot of smoke leaving from engine. I installed a new band.

since then, some problems appeared:

1. the main of them: The engine keeps accelerated itself during about 2 or 3 seconds after releasing the accelerator control.

2. At the morning when the engine is cold, it turns on but it works in a way irregular. I push the accelerator foot control for 3 or 4 seconds, it accelerates, I release the accelerator foot control, the rpm decreasing but it not reaches the minimun, after 2 or 3 seconds it reaches the minimun but then it shuts down. I have to turn it on again and so until it heats. After that it works well, exception to the problem 1 above.

Note: when I disconnect the aux air valve the problem 1 disappears and I hear that the engine works best. I haven't tested it driving on the street because I'm not sure of the consequences.

tomorrow at morning when the engine is cold I will test this way and I will send to you my results.

I waiting for your soon answer my brother because I had problems with this. I had a collision with another car because of this problem and nobody can hep me here in my city at the moment.
